  • 42nd UN GRADUATE STUDY PROGRAMME, GENEVA

Duration: 3 weeks (July).
Scope: The programme focuses on issues relating to human rights and humanitarian affairs, as well as environment and development. The programme consists of a series of lectures and panel discussions focusing on UN activities.
Requirements: University degree
Working languages: English and French.
Expenses: All costs must be borne by the incumbent who must also enroll in a health insurance plan for the period of the study programme.

  • UN INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME, NEW YORK*

Duration: 2 months (mid-January to mid-March; mid-may to mid-July; and mid-September to mid-November).
Scope: To promote among the participants a better understanding of how the UN attempts to find solutions to the major problems confronting the world.
Eligible Applicants: When applying, incumbents should be enrolled in a graduate school and specialize in a field related to the work of the UN.
Expenses: All costs must be borne by the incumbent who must also enroll in a health insurance plan for the period of the internship.

  • INTERNSHIP AT THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE IN GENEVA

Age limit: 24 years of age
Requirements: University students pursuing a degree.
Languages: Good knowledge of English and French.
Expenses: All costs must be borne by the incumbent who must enroll in a health insurance plan for the period of the stage.

  • UNITED NATIONS VOLUNTEERS PROGRAMME*

Duration: 2 years.
Requirements: University degree and a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.

On 9th october 1997, the Italian Government and the UN Volunteers Programme signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the purpose of ensuring greater participation of Italian volunteers in the Programme.

  • UN NATIONAL COMPETITIVE RECRUITMENT EXAMINATION FOR JUNIOR PROFESSIONAL OFFICERS*

The United Nations announces through the major dailies that a competitive examination is to be held under the direction of a UN Board of Examiners to recruit nationals of selected Member States.
Requirements: First-level University degree in the occupational group listed in the announcement, maximum 32 years of age at the end of the calendar year.
Language requirements: Fluency in either English or French.

Several years of work experience in the interested field in each case, as well as fluency in English and other UN official languages are absolutely required.

  • JUNIOR PROFESSIONAL OFFICERS/ASSOCIATE EXPERTS

Duration: 1-year contract, possible renewal for an additional year.
Scope: This programme is an initiative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide an opportunity to young professionals to get experience in the development cooperation field.
Requirements: University degree, maximum 30 years of age (33 years for medical doctors)
Language requirements: Written and oral English and knowledge of other UN official languages.
